A technical climb for experienced hikers with confident navigation
Located in Mount Barney National Park in the Scenic Rim region. Approx 1hr 40min from Brisbane. Its approximately 6km return and is for experienced hikers with good fitness and navigation. Allow 4-5hours.

Mount May is a tough track to find and isn’t well sign posted so you either need to go with someone who has been, or you have good navigation skills.

Getting there:

1hr 40min south of Brisbane with off road parking however no 4WD is required. Head towards and park at Waterfall Creek Reserve Camping Ground in google.

What to take:

Water and snacks. As you will be going for up to 5 hours, the weather can change so take wet weather and safety gear such as emergency blanket and head torch. There is some scrambling in sections so wear comfortable footwear and clothing. Gloves are an optional extra.. Hydration pack or drink bottle with 3L of water.

Hot tip:

You will need to scramble up boulders so take gloves and wear a long sleeve top. Also take a packed lunch/snacks to enjoy the views of Mount Barney at the top.
